Our story
At Wod_science, our mission is to bring the latest advancements in fitness and nutrition science to the public in a manner that is easy to understand. We recognize that academic papers can be difficult to access and often behind paywalls, but we believe that sport science should be available to everyone - from coaches and athletes to fitness enthusiasts.

That's why we've created a platform on Instagram where we summarize cutting-edge research papers on topics such as fitness, weightlifting, endurance exercise, and nutrition into digestible posts with clear and concise summaries. While Instagram is a great tool for sharing information, it doesn't provide a way to search and retrieve information. That's why we've created an archive of all our posts on this website, accessible with a small monthly or yearly fee.

By subscribing to Wod_science, you'll not only gain access to our archive of research summaries, but also enjoy additional benefits such as discounts on future training programs. Our goal is to make sport science accessible and useful to everyone, and with your support, we can make it happen.
Who is behind the page?
Gommaar D'Hulst, PhD
Gommaar D’Hulst is a seasoned sport scientist and researcher with a passion for sharing his knowledge with the public. He obtained his PhD in Sport Sciences and Biology from the University of Leuven in Belgium, and went on to further study the regulation of muscle growth through nutrients and exercise via a postdoctoral position.

In addition to publishing scientific papers, Gommaar has always been driven to make complex scientific concepts accessible to those without a scientific background. His ultimate goal is to one day start his own company that translates scientific research into practical applications.

His current endeavors include a project aimed at upcycling food side-streams into high-quality protein isolates, which recently received a significant grant from the Swiss government. With a bright future ahead, Gommaar continues to push the boundaries of science and innovation.

A devoted CrossFit enthusiast for over eight years, Gommaar credits the sport with helping him challenge himself and dispel fitness myths. When he's not in the lab or at the gym, you can find him spending time with his two children, Vince and Lexie, at home.
Henning Langer, PhD
Meet Henning - a leading expert in the field of fitness and nutrition science. With a Master's degree from Maastricht University and a PhD from Charité, Henning has deepened his knowledge in muscle metabolism and plasticity through postdoctoral work at the University of Davis and Cornell.

In addition to his extensive scientific background, Henning is also a seasoned strength and conditioning coach, with over a decade of experience. He's a LV-1 coach and co-founder of Haupstadt CrossFit in Berlin, and has competed in European throwdowns. With a combination of brains and brawn, Henning is a valuable asset to the Wod_science team.
