🔥The results of our HYBRID study are in!

Here is a summary:
WHY?
Most CrossFit sessions involve first a strength part (compound lifts), followed by metabolic conditioning (short WODs). A plethora of data coming from other sports suggests that combining strength and endurance might stimulate the ‘interference’ effect — conditioning interferes with strength gains and vice versa.
One way to reduce the interference effect is to separate strength and endurance by at least 6h.
HOW?
We set-up a study in CrossFit participants to put this ‘separation of sessions’ to the test. Participants were randomly allocated to Group A (TRAD) who did 8-weeks of traditional CrossFit training and Group B (HYBRID) where strength and conditioning (WODs) sessions were separated by a week [see slide 4].
RESULTS?
To our (slight) surprise, we found actual performance benefits in the HYBRID group over the TRAD group. In 3 of the 5 fitness tests provided, the HYBRID group gained significantly more performance compared to the TRAD group.
Noteworthy, these athletes were well trained and had on average 6-y of CrossFit experience.
APPLICATIONS for you as an athlete:
If you are feeling you are hitting a performance plateau in the gym, it might be a good idea to completely separate your strength sessions from your metcons.
TRY yourself?
We designed a season programming in this HYBRID style. If you want to check it out, there are 3 weeks for FREE currently available on our training program platform powered by @strivee.app

Thanks to all the participants for participating in this pilot study. I think the data is highly valuable for the CrossFit community!
