Carbohydrates and CrossFit®: The misunderstood macronutrient

🔥 WOD Science Classic.

🕵🏻Making sense of the confusion surrounding carbohydrates. Make sure to tag your buddy in the comments! 👇🏼

🚙If you drive your Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid on the German Autobahn at 300kmh (185mph), you will have to stop after about 2-3h to refuel the empty 75 liter (20 gallon) tank. Similarly, if you are a big athlete training vigorously, you will have to keep your carbohydrate intake high.

🚗If you drive a Toyota Prius you can go up to 100kmh (60mph) without requiring any gas (just via electricity). And if you drive your Prius at that speed on the highway, a combination of electricity and gas will allow you to go almost 10h or a total of 1000km (640miles).

🔥But if you're going faster than that, gas becomes increasingly important to get the work done and the total distance you can go without refueling will shorten tremendously. Similarly, at lower intensities fat is the primary fuel and will allow you to go forever, but the harder you go when you exercise the more reliant on carbohydrates you will be. 🥞
