Most elite runners do not lose any performance in the 1-3 years post pregnancy

🤰🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♀️ There have been plenty of examples of elite athletes returning to competition after pregnancy in dominating fashion. CrossFit®, athletics, tennis,… you name the sport.


👀 As a father myself, it always boggled my mind to see how resilient and adaptable the female body is.

📈 In this new study, the effect of pregnancy on training volume and performance was put into numbers and the results are pretty extraordinary.

“In 60% of all runners who intended to return to equivalent performance levels post- pregnancy, there was no statistical decrease in performance in the 1 to-3 years post compared to pre-pregnancy, and 46% improved performances post-pregnancy."

💡 So in most of the elite runners, pregnancy did not negatively affect performance and in some of them, it gave them super powers. Simply incredible.
