Once a day or twice a day: Which training strategy is optimal to maintain training intensity

1️⃣/2️⃣ Training once a day or twice a day?

🔥 Well, if you are doing very high-volume resistance training it might be a good idea to split the sets between a morning and an afternoon session. At least that is what this study indicates.

💦 Well trained athletes were able to keep the training intensity at a higher level when they split their sets compared to when they did all the sets in one session. Also measures of recovery were better with 2 sessions.

🤔Although this study did not measure hypertrophy (or strength) over a longer training period (multiple weeks), this does suggest that a plot training approach results in better performance as multiple studies in the past have shown that training load per se determines muscle growth. If you can keep the load higher without diminishing recovery, you will get the best results.

MEME:

🏋🏻‍♂️If your goal is performance, make sure to get your carbs in.

😄If your goal is weight loss, still make sure to get some carbs in.

👩🏽‍⚕️If you are clinically obese and suffer from type 2 diabetes, cutting carbs out is one, but not the only way to do it. Consult your endocrinologist.
