Optimal bodyweight for the CrossFit Open

23.2 bodyweight vs score analysis

🔥 Is there a correlation between body weight and performance in the CrossFit Open? Let's take a closer look at the numbers.

📣 I want to give a shoutout to @b4rbus, who is a data scientist and a good friend of ours, for doing most of the analysis.

🙌 One of the great things about the CrossFit Open is that it has a large participant base, which provides data on both performance (scores) and anthropometric information such as body weight and height. We extracted this data from the CrossFit Games website and found some fascinating relationships. Check out the slides for detailed information.

👍 In summary, we found that there is an optimal body weight range for excelling at both 23.2a and b. For women, this range is 65-70 kg, while for men, it's 85-90 kg. Interestingly, these numbers were consistent across all levels of performance (fitness).
