Protein distribution throughout the day: Effect on muscle protein synthesis

đŸ„› Protein distribution, or how you distribute your protein intake throughout the day. Does it even matter?


❌ The studies shared in this post suggest that it likely does not matter a lot when people are just living their normal lives and do not engage in resistance training. The readout we are talking about is muscle protein synthesis, a proxy for muscle remodeling and overall muscle health on the long term.


✅🏋 Important caveat here, older studies show [see slide 5] that once (younger) people do strength training and thus have more protein turnover, an even distribution of protein throughout the day seems to be the most beneficial to maximally stimulate muscle protein synthesis.


Looks like the bodybuilders were right 😊.
