⚙️🩸Why is a big aerobic engine essential for CrossFit® performance?
💦 Most typical CrossFit® workouts last somewhere in between 3 and 20 minutes. Although CrossFit® is performed at high intensity, the energy used to drive the muscles is predominantly (70-90%) coming from aerobic sources.
👀 Not only the (genetically determined) maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) is important here, also the percentage an athlete can use of this VO2max DURING a WOD determines performance. Take a look at a hypothetical example, explained on [slide 3].
